Change is needed to reduce the prevalence of food insecurity, obesity and diet-related diseases so that everyone in the United States can live long and healthy lives.
The causes of these nutrition challenges are complex, ranging from environmental and economic influences, to policies and individual factors. However, it is clear that the nutritional quality of foods and beverages offered by America’s major manufacturers and how those products are labeled, marketed, priced and distributed contributes to the obesity epidemic. Therefore, the food and beverage industry can contribute to addressing America’s nutrition challenges and play its part in finding solutions.
