The US was selected as a Spotlight Country in 2017. The country's population suffers from obesity and overweight, but also from micro-nutrient deficiencies.
ATNF visited the US several times to solicit input from stakeholders on the concept and on how the US Index methodology should be adapted to its local nutrition context. The research for the US Index took place simultaneously with the research for the third Global Index. The first US Index will be published in 2018.
